A mood board was created initially to set the tone for the design based on the project brief and persona. The selected mood board reflects a feeling of comfort, security, rest, and stability while depicting family and saving since those were priorities for the persona.
Low and Mid-Fidelity Wire frames
Below shows side-by-side examples of some of the screens I created when drafting and refining initial designs. Some designs were directly converted to mid-fidelity states, where others were modified as I found out what functionality was needed.
COLORS I wanted to use colors and fonts that depicted a trusted brand, yet speak to a slightly younger, yet sophisticated generation.
Greens and or blues were to be used per the business requirements.
I chose also to incorporate a clean, bright white and dark grey to offset everything.
The green is symbolic of life, wealth, and newness, while the blue represents trust.
TYPOGRAPHY
In adhering to Material design standards, I chose to use Roboto for most informational text in the app.
For toggles, menu bar options, and buttons I used Nunito and Nanum Gothic fonts since I wanted a more playful feel and to make buttons stand out visually.
I learned how to add new fonts to my computer from Google Fonts.
